“Books of Russia” National Fair, a traditional spring forum of Russian book publishers, have been holden on the territory of the All-Russian Exhibition Center since 1998. This business event is traditionally aimed at the promotion of book production on the eve of a spring-summer season. The exhibition is very useful for a commercial life of new titles which enter the book market during summer and autumn months.
The Fair participants: book distributors, publishers, printers, librarians, paper producers, finance specialists (about 1,000 organizations) arrange theirs booths on the space of 12,000 sq m to present above 100,000 titles of books published in various languages of Russian Federation ’s peoples.
“Books of Russia” Fair Organizing Committee is constant in its support of regional publishing. Therefore, all regional publishers have a possibility to show their production in specially arranged collective exhibits. The list of such exhibits includes a collective exposition of Russian regional and national publishers and an exhibit of professional training publications. A state of reading reflects a situation in a society, and a state of children’s reading demonstrates a society’s attitude to its future. That is why the national fair program consists of numerous business events dedicated to the problems of children’s reading and books’ publication. At the fair Russian publishers arrange a diversified and extensive program: presentations, “round tables”, meetings with authors. Within the fair many publishers traditionally invite the most popular authors, whose meetings become feasts of spiritual communication of book lovers and writers. The national exhibition/fair is a very efficient test for the Russian publishing business, a chance to see the conformity of the Russian publishing to the international level and unite Russia’s book specialists into a commonwealth of real professionals. |
